Natraj Temple Satara

Satara is a small town located in the district of Maharashtra . The town get its name Satara from the from the Seven (Sat) Hills(Taras) surrounding it. The Nataraj Temple is situated in the Satara City. It is just 5-6 kms away from Powai Naka. The temple also Known as the Uttara (meaning north) Chidambaram temple. The Natraj temple is located just off the National Highway NH4 connecting Satara and Solapur district of Maharashtra. The foundation for the temple was laid on May 1981. Samanna (late) an prominent citizen of Satara gifted away an adequate plot of land for building the temple. The funding s necessary to built the temple were given by the government of States of Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu while the timber needed for the entire construction of the temple was given by the government of kerela. The Natraj temple of Satara can be said as a small replica of Shree Nataraja temple situated at Chidambaram in Tamil-Nadu. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva Natraj, who is a depiction of the Hindu god Shiva.  Natraj temple has four entrances in four directions.

  • Aadya Shankaracharya Mandir (The Temple of Aadya Shankaracharya)
  • Ayyappa Swami Mandir(Lord Ayyappa’s Temple)

The temple is run by a public trust. All the idols are well worshiped. It conducts various religious, spiritual and social activities. A very popular temple, it attracts lakhs of devotees and pilgrims to pay worship to Lord Shri Nataraja, Shri Goddess Shivkamsundari & other deities. At the evening local people gathered here for pray.
