Shri Bramhachaitanya Gondavalekar Maharaj

Shri Gondavalekar Maharaj was born in 1845 at Gondavale Village to pious parents, his Father’s name was “Ravaji” and his Mother’s name was “Gitamai”. Shri Maharaja’s childhood name was “Ganapati” and was called as “Ganu”. Shri Maharaj started doing Japa since his childhood. He left his home in search of his spiritual Guru in the Year 1857 at a age of 12. He was married that time due to the early Marriage tradition in India. Shri Maharaj traveled all around India in search of a Spiritual Guru, in the year 1862 he found his Spiritual Guru in Shri Tukaram-Chaitanya also known as “Tukamai”. Shri Maharaj then received initiation from Shri Tukaram and he was given the name “Bramhachaitanya” by his Guru.

Shri Gondavalekar Maharaj was an ardent devotee of Lord Ram and devoted his entire life chanting the holy name of Lord Ram and spreading the significance of “Naam Japa” amongst his followers and disciples. Shri Gondavalekar Maharaj built various temples of Lord Ram and Hanuman all over the India. He always liked to distribute free food to the hungry and needy he was also an avid animal lover and gave shelter and love to many animals at Gondavale Village.

Followers of Shri Maharaj have established an Ashram in the serene environment of Gondavale Village. The Ashram is always vibrant with different activities carried out by his followers and disciples. The Ashram serves free food and  provides free stay for all the visitors at all days and at all times. Gondavale is a place worth visiting.
